Join a passionate, clinically skilled, trauma focused team dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and  promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.  The YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley provides clinical therapy to over 550 community members each year with a focus on providing therapy to individuals and families that have survived domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and human trafficking. The YWCA provides MFT and MSW associates/trainees with clinical training and experience that will be the foundation of their work in the community as trauma focused, strength based, clinically-competent therapists. The ideal candidate has a combination of empathetic presence and experience working holistically with people impacted by trauma. YWCA Clinicians are encouraged to work holistically with people impacted by trauma, using somatic, culturally-relevant, and creative expressive interventions. The ideal clinical supervisor has a scope of competence that includes working with trauma or complex trauma across the lifespan.

Reporting to and working with the Director of Clinical Services, the Clinical Supervisor:

  • Provides individual and group clinical supervision to MFT associates/trainees, facilitates group supervision, and provide support/guidance for client crisis involving legal and ethical concerns,
  • Reviews assessments, case notes, treatment plans and all diagnostic material for accuracy and appropriateness. Prepare quarterly evaluations for trainees (avg of 4 hours week)
  • Be available for crisis/afterhours (average of 2 hours a week)
  • Participate in monthly meetings with Director to support ongoing supervision. (2 hours a month)

Pay is based on number of Trainees and Associates you want to supervise and length of time of contract. Clinical Supervisors must take no less than 4 supervisees and no more than 8; Clinical Supervisors must run one clinical supervision group. Contracts can be annual or based on a school-year (10 1/2 months). For a 12-month contract, pay ranges between $3,336 -$2,027 per month, depending on number of supervisees. For a school-year contract, pay ranges between $3,019 – 1,710 per month, depending on number of supervisees.

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling Psychology, a clinical license through the BBS of the State of California in good standing, licensed for at least 2 years, and the training necessary to provide clinical supervision.  We are seeking someone with a high level of self-awareness, an understanding of the effect of trauma on clients and therapists and has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidates should be confident in their ability to provide empathy, healthy boundaries, and cultural sensitivity and are able to remain calm and make decisions during periods of crisis. Must have a good understanding and training in issues of law and ethics involved with providing clinical services.

Work hours are primarily during the day with some evening work if needed to support supervisees and the ability to take crisis calls after work hours if needed. Must have the ability to work remotely.

Required: Clear background check (fingerprinting), California Clinical license (BBS) in good standing, 6 units of training necessary to provide clinical supervision. This position requires a Covid-19 vaccination to promote the health and safety of others in the workplace and our community.
