Be a key part of shaping this future as our new North Community Support Manager in our Support Services Department, Advocacy Program.
Through leadership and management, the North Community Support Manager is responsible for the optimal performance of community support services within the Support Services Department in Northern Santa Clara County, including an on-campus program at Stanford University. This position is located primarily located in Palo Alto and will involve travel between Palo Alto and San Jose locations. The North Community Support Manager is responsible for ensuring program compliance with federal and state regulations, corporate policies and procedures, and recommends improvements/changes to existing corporate policies to the Director of Support Services. The North Community Support Manager ensures the development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of operational procedures and programs/functions within the North Community Support program.

Essential to this role is a demonstrated ability working with culturally and economically diverse individuals and families and ability to work with those impacted by trauma; a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and to respond appropriately to unexpected situations. As a member of the YWCA Management Team, the North Community Support Manager participates in program planning/design, change management, individual/leadership development, goal setting, community engagement and problem solving.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills to work independently and remotely. You must demonstrate empathy and warmth, as well as excellent communication skills. You must have an understanding of intersectional feminism and a strong commitment to social justice. Additionally, an ideal candidate will possess knowledge of and sensitivity to human trafficking issues, trauma, gender equity and client-centered service provision.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a social services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience as well as a minimum of 1-2 years of Management experience. Key to success is the ability to be present in a changing work environment; the ability to work independently and the ability to make decisions appropriately, prioritize effectively and model healthy boundaries with empathy and compassion. Candidates should be competent in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and have experience in confidential data management and record keeping.
The ideal candidate is a warm, self-starter deeply committed to providing services from a strengths-based, social justice and anti-oppression framework. Prior advocacy-based counseling and case management experience is a plus. Bilingual, bi-cultural and bi-literate skills are required.
Work hours are primarily days. Schedule TBD. Delivery of service may include overtime to accomplish task at hand. On-call duties are required (weekends and evenings). Work includes lifting up to 30 pounds.This position will temporarily require the candidate to be flexible in a hybrid model of working remote (from home), onsite and in-person within the required service area response time based on job assignment.
Required: Cleared background check (fingerprinting), valid TB test, valid California driver’s license, and auto insurance. Must have completed or be willing to complete 65hr-trained California State Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Counselor certification. (Training will be provided). This position requires a Covid-19 vaccination due to the in-person interfacing required, and to promote the health and safety of others in the workplace and our community.
