LEGAL SERVICES
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley Legal Services helps survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human
trafficking file for restraining and/or civil harassment orders. We also assist survivors in filing limited family law paperwork, and
accompany them to court in criminal, civil and family law hearings.
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley is a Department of Justice certified agency certified agency – we can help survivors file for their U, T or VAWA visa.
LEGAL SERVICES PROVIDED
- TRO Applications and filing applications with the court
- Filing any other initial family law paperwork with the court
- Limited family law paperwork assistance for divorce, child custody, child support and visitations applications. We only assist with initial filings if you have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking. If out of our scope of services, we will provide external legal referrals.
- Court prep
- Court accompaniment to Family, Civil and Criminal, as capacity allows
- Legal information, resources and referrals. This also includes immigration related information and resources.
- Helping survivors report. Accompanying to police station, if needed, and as capacity allows .
- Accompanying to other government agencies and service providers, as needed, and as capacity allows.
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley North County
Family Justice Center
Led by YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley, the North County Family Justice Center (NCFJC) is a collaboration of multiple government agencies and community partners that provides services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. The NCFJC is staffed by attorneys and non-attorneys with a range of expertise, encompassing immigration law, family law, legal advocacy, criminal law (prosecutions), victim compensation assistance, and law enforcement support. The service providers include the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, the Step Forward Foundation, family law attorneys, and YWCA advocates. The NCFJC also provides referrals to other agencies for further assistance if required.
