FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We have joined forces to create the most impactful YWCA in the Bay Area focused on eliminating racism and empowering women. The decision to join forces was made after a year of due diligence, thoughtful planning, and negotiations. Together we will serve almost 20,000 people annually across four counties (Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo & Santa Clara), through an array of programs and services delivered by highly skilled staff and dedicated volunteers.
Through our combining, we have become a powerhouse regional organization that leverages the resources of our YWCA movement to enhance and expand mission impact and meet the needs of the local communities we serve.
Our name changed to reflect our expanded scope and the significant geography that we now serve. Both Golden Gate and Silicon Valley are inspirational concepts and reflect the full expanse of our combining.
No. All locations will remain the same.
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley’s EIN is 94-1186196.
Not initially. The changes that evolve will happen over time, and after a thoughtful community needs’ assessment and strategic plan are completed for the newly expanded organization. Together, we’ll be better positioned to foster relationship-building, increase information and resource-sharing, and coordinate and encourage collective effort. It will increase our impact and enhance our own sustainability.
Clients will be informed proactively about this exciting change in name, but won’t feel any impact.
If you currently donate to YWCA Silicon Valley, nothing will change, as YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley will be using the EIN of the organization formerly called YWCA Silicon Valley. If you currently donate to YWCA San Francisco & Marin, our staff are here to help you transfer your giving to the updated EIN.
Yes. Existing programs and services that you have come to rely on will remain the same and serve the same communities.
While unrestricted donations are critical for covering the full cost of operating and maintaining healthy programs, funds can be restricted to specific geographies or programs. YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley staff can assist with donors’ requests as needed.
