LGBTQIA+ Services for Survivors
We are proud to offer affirming, culturally responsive services to LGBTQIA+ survivors.
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley understands that people of all genders and sexual orientations experience violence.
Our confidential services for the LGBTQIA+ community include crisis intervention, counseling, case management, and support groups.
SUPPORT GROUPS FOR QUEER & TRANS SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ABUSE (Ages 18+)
The focus of these groups are for queer and trans survivors to move toward healing in a confidential and communal space where they can also feel safe in their intersecting identities. Survivors can look forward to building trust and support for one another as they share about their common experiences and the ways that people heal from sexual assault and abuse.
We offer two different support groups based on age: Transitional age youth (age 18 - mid-20's) and adult (mid-20's +)
CASE MANAGEMENT (All ages)
Our case management services include support with navigating safety, housing, income, employment, food, mobility/transportation, child care, criminal justice issues, and family/social relations (must be located in Santa Clara County).
*We also can work with guardians of LGBTQIA+ survivors.
CRISIS COUNSELING FOR YOUTH (Age 5+)
Our LGBTQIA+ affirming counseling sessions focus on daily life, crisis intervention and building skills such as coping mechanisms, grounding techniques, and self-care practices. Our advocates are trained in open-ended questions, validation, and other forms of support outside of licensed therapy practices.
It’s nice to not just talk to people about sexual assault, but also how it affects you while being queer and how being queer affects you in life.Survivor
