Department/Program: Support Services (pending name change to Healing & Justice)/ Crisis Intervention

Reporting to the Support Line Manager, the Bilingual Crisis Intervention Advocate provides crisis intervention services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The Bilingual Crisis Intervention Advocate answers the 24/7 Support Line and provides Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) response to accompany individuals and their significant others at the hospital. The Bilingual Crisis Intervention Advocate often serves as the first point-of-contact for the community and completes intakes, assessments, and screenings for other programs, as well as provides crisis counseling and safety planning to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and reliable individual with a high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Essential to this role is a demonstrated ability working with culturally and economically diverse individuals and families and ability to work with those impacted by trauma; a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and to respond appropriately to unexpected situations.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills to work independently and as part of a team. You must have an understanding of feminism and a strong commitment to social justice. Additionally, an ideal candidate will possess knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence and sexual assault issues, trauma, gender equity, and client-centered service provision.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a social services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Key to success is the ability to be present in a changing work environment; the ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team with flexibility, initiative, and a sense of humor; and the ability to prioritize effectively and model healthy boundaries with empathy and compassion. Candidates should be competent in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and have experience in confidential data management and record keeping.

The ideal candidate is a warm, self-starter deeply committed to providing services from a strengths-based, social justice and anti-oppression framework. Prior advocacy-based counseling and case management experience is a plus. Spanish bilingual, bi-cultural, and bi-literate skills are required.

 

Work hours are primarily days. Delivery of service may include overtime to accomplish the task at hand. On-call duties are required during evenings and weekends (as part of a rotation).  This position is in person and in the office. The regular schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Candidate must be within a drivable distance of Valley Medical Center Hospital within 30 minutes and Stanford Hospital within 45 minutes for in-person responses. These are contract requirements, and we cannot accept anyone who is not able to meet this standard. Work includes lifting up to 30 pounds. Susceptible to compassion fatigue and/or vicarious trauma.

 

Required: Cleared background check (fingerprinting), valid TB test, valid California driver’s license (3 years+ experience), a clean driving record, reliable transportation, and auto insurance. Must have completed or be willing to complete a 75-hour California State Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor certification (training will be provided). Reporting to the In-Person Response Manager, the Bilingual Crisis Intervention Volunteer Service Coordinator I provide intakes, needs assessment, and information on community resources both in person and on the phone using a strength-based, client-centered, trauma-informed approach to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. This role will also coordinate volunteer schedules and ensure onboarding and training for volunteers within the Crisis Intervention program, ensuring they have the skills, cultural competency, and support they need to be successful in their service delivery and data entry.

Requirements:

  • A fully qualified teacher shall have at least 12-semester units in early childhood education from an accredited college, including courses covering child growth and development; child, family, and community; and program/curriculum
  • Qualified teachers will meet the requirements outlined by Title 22 for the designated age group
  • Candidate must have at least 1 years of experience
  • The ability to work as a member of a teaching group, prepare lesson plans, and engage with parents

Childcare Site Supervisor

Salary Ranges: $64,480-$72,846

Reporting to the Program Director, the Child Care Site Supervisor provides a high-quality childcare program by delivering a culturally competent and research-based STEAM curriculum.

We are seeking 2 Child Care Site Supervisors who are compassionate, organized, and reliable individuals with a high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills to work independently and as part of a team. You must understand feminism and a strong commitment to social justice. Additionally, an ideal candidate will possess knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence and sexual assault issues, trauma, gender equity and client-centered service provision.

CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

  • A Site Supervisor permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • 15 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) in ECE/CD, which must include: Infant/Toddler Care & Development (3 units minimum)
  • 4 years’ experience with children under the age of five.
  • Ability to be certified in all mandated association training, including but not limited to: child abuse prevention, blood-born pathogens, and mandated reporting.
  • MMR, Pertussis, influenza, and Adult TB risk assessment.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to become certified)
  • 2 years of supervision experience.
  • Experience working in a Title V program and the ability to execute on CMR with the State.
  • Ability to be certified in all mandated association training, including but not limited to: child abuse prevention, blood-born pathogens, and mandated reporting.

Childcare Teacher 2

Full-time (40 hours/week), Hourly, Non-Exempt

Base Hourly Pay: $26.00 – $28.00

Location: YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley, San Jose, CA 95112

Program/Department: Childcare

Reporting to the Youth and Family Services Program Director provides child care services to individuals and families.

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and reliable individual with a high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Essential to this role is a demonstrated ability working with culturally and economically diverse individuals and families .

Requirements:

  • A fully qualified teacher shall have more than 24-semester units in early childhood education from an accredited college, including courses covering child growth and development; child, family, and community; and program/curriculum
  • Qualified teachers will meet the requirements outlined by Title 22 for the designated age group
  • Candidate must have 3 years of experience
  • The ability to work as a member of a teaching group, prepare lesson plans, and engage with parents.
  • Candidate must hold a valid Teacher permit issued by the commission on teacher credentialing

Work hours are primarily Monday-Friday. Schedule TBD. Delivery of service may include overtime to accomplish the task at hand. Work includes lifting up to 30 pounds. Susceptible to compassion fatigue and/or vicarious trauma.

Required: Cleared background check (fingerprinting), valid TB test, Tdap, Influenza, MMR, CPR certification. This position requires a Covid-19 vaccination due to the in-person interfacing required, and to promote the health and safety of others in the workplace and our community.

Restorative Practice Coordinator

Full-Time (40 hours/week), Hourly, Non-Exempt

Base Hourly Pay: $32.88

Location: YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley, San Jose, CA 95112

Department/Program: Social Justice/Community Based Prevention & Outreach

Reporting to the Associate Director of Social Justice, the Restorative Practice Coordinator educates the community on the implementation of restorative practices in an effort to create safe spaces for youth and adults. The restorative practice framework offers communities the opportunity to promote accountability through social-emotional learning, facilitation of reparative circles, healthy boundary setting, and dialogue. The Restorative Practice Coordinator works to raise societal awareness about accountability via restorative practices as well as social justice issues in an effort to provide concrete tools for reducing the incidence of interpersonal violence and enhancement of protective factors. to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The Restorative Practice Coordinator must ensure the team and department successfully reaches client service and business goals. This role is often the primary face of the YWCA Silicon Valley to the general public and therefore must not fail to demonstrate subject-matter knowledge, professional maturity and personify the agency values in interactions with clients, community partners and the general public.

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and reliable individual with a high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Essential to this role is a demonstrated ability to work with culturally and economically diverse individuals and families and the ability to work with those impacted by trauma; a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and to respond appropriately to unexpected situations.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills to work independently and as part of a team. You must have an understanding of feminism and a strong commitment to social justice. Additionally, an ideal candidate will possess knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence and sexual assault issues, trauma, gender equity and client-centered service provision.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a social services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Key to success is the ability to be present in a changing work environment; the ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team with flexibility, initiative, and a sense of humor; and the ability prioritize effectively and model healthy boundaries with empathy and compassion. Candidates should be competent in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and have experience in confidential data management and record keeping.

  • Ability to exhibit warmth, empathy, and supportiveness to people, especially when they are experiencing a trauma response
  • Ability to work with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations

The ideal candidate is a warm, self-starter deeply committed to providing services from a strengths-based, social justice and anti-oppression framework.  Bilingual, bi-cultural, and bi-literate skills are preferred but not required (Spanish, Mandarin, or Vietnamese strongly preferred).

Frequent local travel across Santa Clara County to provide services, facilitate workshops, and attend events as needed. Work includes lifting up to 30 pounds. Susceptible to compassion fatigue and/or vicarious trauma.

 

Required: Cleared background check (fingerprinting), valid TB test, valid 3+ years California driver’s license, reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and auto insurance. Must have completed or be willing to complete a 75-hour California State Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor certification. (Training will be provided). This position requires a Covid-19 vaccination due to the in-person interfacing required, and to promote the health and safety of others in the workplace and our community.
