Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers power our mission
Make a critical impact through direct service, administrative support, event engagement, and more.
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley offers many opportunities to serve the community.
Many of our programs are seeking volunteers who are looking for a long-term commitment that typically involves up to four hours per week, for at least six months. A limited number of short-term or one-time volunteer projects are available on an as-needed basis and for our signature fundraising events.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Your YWCA
To get started, please read our FAQ’s and learn more about our volunteer opportunities below, then complete the Volunteer Interest form at the bottom of the page.
Volunteers who directly support survivors are required to obtain our 75-Hour Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Counselor Certification and submit the results of a Tuberculosis (TB) test. This training and onboarding happens three times each year and can take up to two months to complete.
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley does not accommodate court-ordered service.
Prior to beginning any client-facing volunteer role, volunteers are required to:
- Complete a volunteer screening interview
- Complete a background screening
- Submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination (one full course based on local public health standards, any type)
- Sign a confidentiality agreement and other onboarding form
Some volunteer roles are not client-facing, such as supporting our events, and may not have the same requirements. Once you’ve submitted the volunteer interest form, our Community Resources team will follow up with more information.
