Statement on Released Epstein Files

February 19, 2026

Statement from Adriana Caldera Boroffice, CEO, YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley on Released Epstein Files

Each day, as more information is released from the Epstein files, we are confronted with the unbearable truth of just how deep and wide the harm has been. With every new document, more atrocities are unveiled and more potential perpetrators are identified. What is painfully clear is this: survivors were not listened to. Their voices were minimized, dismissed, or ignored.

Many of those who were harmed were children at the time these crimes occurred. Children. They were entitled to safety. They were entitled to protection. They were entitled to adults and institutions that would believe them and act. Instead, far too many were failed.

We also know that abuse does not happen in isolation. Abusers often rely on fear, manipulation, intimidation, isolation, financial control, and threats to silence survivors and make them feel powerless. These fear tactics are deliberate. They are designed to erode a survivor’s sense of agency and to reinforce the false belief that no one will listen—or that speaking out will only bring more harm. When systems reinforce that silence, the damage deepens and persists.

At YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley, we stand unequivocally with survivors of violence.

For more than 50 years, YWCA GGSV has been one of the oldest rape crisis centers in the state of California. Our history is rooted in believing survivors, advocating for justice, and providing trauma-informed care. As highlighted in our 2025 Impact Report, we serve more than 23,000 community members each year, including adult and youth survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking. Each person who reaches out to us carries a story of courage. Each deserves safety, dignity, and accountability from the systems meant to protect them.

The unfolding revelations in this case are not just about one individual or one network of abuse. They expose systemic failures—failures to hold powerful individuals accountable and failures to center the voices of those most harmed. Justice cannot be selective. Accountability cannot depend on influence or wealth. Survivors deserve to be heard. They deserve their justice.

To survivors everywhere—especially those whose stories are resurfacing in this moment—we say clearly:
We see you.
We believe you.
You deserve justice.
And we will continue to stand with you.

If you or someone you know needs support, YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley operates a 24-hour confidential crisis hotline and provides advocacy, counseling, and accompaniment services. Call 1 800-572-2782. You are not alone.

And to our broader community: now is the time to demand transparency and accountability. We urge you to contact your members of Congress and call for thorough, independent investigations to ensure that anyone responsible for these crimes is held accountable—regardless of their power or position.

  • Call your Senators: (202) 224-3121
  • Call your Representatives: (202) 225-3121

Survivors deserve more than headlines. They deserve justice.

Our commitment to our mission remains steadfast: to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Standing with survivors is not a moment for us—it is our purpose.
